are
Raphael and Christine Burki – two nature lovers and passionate winegrowers. For many years, our lives were shaped by two worlds: Switzerland and New Zealand. This knowledge and experience flows carefully and thoughtfully into our daily work at Juval.
RAPHAEL BURKI
Owner / Oenologist
After studying oenology at the University of Geisenheim (Germany), he harvested twice a year from 2008 to 2021. One in Switzerland on the beautiful Lake Lucerne and one in New Zealand in the Wairarapa. Thanks to this diverse experience with different climatic conditions and a wide varieties of grape varieties, techniques and working methods, he already has the experience of an entire winemaker's life.
CHRISTINE BURKI
Viticulture
A love of nature has always shaped her life. With a wide range of training and a keen sense for plants and the natural cycle in different climate zones, she cultivated her own vineyard in New Zealand. Today, she skilfully and passionately applies this knowledge to the vineyards of Juval.

Our conviction
We cultivate and maintain our vineyards according to organic and sustainable principles. We work carefully, respectfully and in harmony with natural cycles. Less intervention, more trust in nature – and a lot of manual labour. This is how we protect and strengthen the local flora and fauna. We also focus on sustainability and care in vinification, packaging and many other details.

MORITZ HOLLANDT
Viticulture
A scout with heart and soul. Moritz is a wine technologist with a wide range of interests. He is a bundle of energy who never tires, even on our steep slopes.
JARI LATTUNEN
viticultura and oenology
Jari studied viticulture and oenology at the University of Milan. He has already gained experience at a wide variety of wineries. He approaches the challenges of our steep terrain in a versatile and thoughtful manner.
GABRIEL
Viticulture
The sunshine of the business! Gabriel is originally from Nigeria and has been working at the winery for 16 years. He knows the grounds like his pocket. Our hard-working all-rounder, always with a smile on his face.
Helping hands during the season
Vineyard / Harvest
Our amazing helpers in the vineyard are people from the region. Most of them are retired, but still fit and very experienced. These wonderful people help us with the vineyard work throughout the year and, of course, with harvest. We always need a few extra hands then.
